Balloon Sinuplasty

Balloon Sinuplasty™ is an endoscopic surgical technique that is a catheter-based treatment for people who suffer from chronic sinusitis.

Dr. Rao is a pioneer using Balloon Sinuplasty and other minimally invasive techniques for the management of chronic and recurrent sinus problems.  This procedure can now performed by Dr. Rao in his office under local anesthesia.

Safe & Less Invasive

With Balloon Sinuplasty, there is no cutting of nasal bone or tissue. More than 350,000 patients suffering from chronic sinusitis have been treated by physicians using Balloon Sinuplasty technology to dilate over 950,000 sinuses.

Proven Effective

Most patients report clinically meaningful improvement in sinus symptoms and quality of life through 2 years following surgery(1).

Fast Recovery

While recovery time varies with each patient, recovery is typically fast. In a study of in-office balloon dilation, most patients returned to work and normal activity within 2 days(2).

Available in the Office

Balloon Sinuplasty is now performed by Dr. Rao in his office under local anesthesia.

Balloon Sinuplasty (BSP) is a safe and effective procedure for chronic sinusitis patients who are not responding well to medications and are seeking relief from uncomfortable and painful sinusitis symptoms.

If you have been diagnosed with chronic sinusitis and are not responding well to medication, you may be a candidate for sinus surgery. There is now a less invasive option used by Dr. Rao and other ENT physicians to treat chronic sinusitis patients that is clinically proven to be safe, effective and improve the quality of your life.

With Balloon Sinuplasty, Dr. Rao opens inflamed sinuses in the same way that heart surgeons open up blocked arteries during balloon angioplasty. The procedure is less invasive than traditional sinus surgery, and effective at relieving symptoms of chronic sinusitis. Balloon Sinuplasty allows patients to return to normal activities quickly. Unlike conventional sinus surgery, it does not include removal of bone or tissue from the nose. And, Balloon Sinuplasty is now offered by Dr. Rao in his office under local anesthesia, so that there is no need to go to an operating room or undergo general anesthesia.

Am I a candidate for Balloon Sinuplasty?

Take the SINO-NASAL OUTCOME TEST.  After completing the survey, please print and bring it to your appointment for Dr. Rao to review with you.  This is one consideration used to determine if you may be a candidiate for Balloon Sinuplasty.

Dr. Rao was featured in a 9NEWS story about an innovative, new technique to treat sinusitis. For more information about this technique and balloon sinuplasty, visit www.acclarent.com or www.entellusmedical.com.
